A passion for cycling culture resonates through Arc’teryx Equipment, and Bike to Work Week sees all levels of the company involved. Our mission is to create not only the best outdoor gear, but to provide the best work experience for our employees, fostering a way of life that maximizes health and stewardship. As a company that values cycling, our employees find a common theme, hobby and passion across all levels and departments to support cycling and cycle commuting as a healthy and fun lifestyle choice. Our new offices in North Vancouver are designed to support cycle commuting, with a dedicated indoor cycle storage room with racks, stands, work station and tools, as well as showers and lockers.
We are highly competitive, taking pride in being the best at what we do, and as such we encourage our employees to take part in BTWW, both to spotlight our lifestyle and to draw attention to what’s simply the right thing to do. To help encourage all employees to take part in Bike-to-Work Week, we run our own internal contests (most days ridden, most kilometers ridden, worst commute story, etc.). We hold supplemental events, like a training clinic to help riders get prepared for bike commuting before the BTWW, bike maintenance clinics, and a free wrap-up barbeque with draw prizes to anyone who participated in BTWW. We have a passion for the outdoors and environmental stewardship, and promoting cycle commuting is one other way we can help our employees make a difference.
BTWW says: In case you didn't notice, the link picture is of the Arc'teryx team from Bike to Work Week - May 2009 - with their award for sweeping the category for businesses of 101 - 1000 employees. They logged the most commutes, biked the most kms, and had the highest company participation in their category. Awesome job, guys!
