Time Savings

If you think cycling is too slow to get you to work on time, think again!

The 2011 Fall Share the Road event took place Wed. Oct. 26th - with 4 out of 5 races won by bikes!  As per usual, cyclists were faster, spent less money, and had a more enjoyable trip.

Vancouver to Langley Commute Faster by Transit-Bike Mode than Car!

We also recently did a bike comparison of a suburban commute to compare to CTV's "Last one to Langley is a Rotten Egg" story about driving times Vancouver to Willowbrook Mall.  They had three cars on three different routes. Their fastest finisher came in at 1 hour and 19 minutes. When our Bike to Work coordinator Gordon did the route combining Skytrain with a bike picked up from a station bike locker at King George, he made it in 1 hour and 7 minutes - better than all three car routes!!

Take a look at our Share the Road Challenge spring 2009 where seven out of nine bikes beat their car-driving counterparts downtown in morning Vancouver rush hour.

And if that wasn't proof enough, you have to see this Sao Paulo Commuter Challenge where the bike beat the helicopter - that's right - the helicopter!
